Welcome to The Black Horse and Stables Tea Room!
We are Daniel and Claire Bryers, and firstly, we’d like to wish everyone a VERY HAPPY 2022!
We are so thrilled to welcome you to The Black Horse in the charming Leicestershire village of Foxton, a popular country pub serving quality beers and tasty home cooked food in delightful surroundings. We also have a quaint Tearoom adjacent to the pub, providing a variety of delicious home baked scones and cakes lovingly prepared and served on the premises. You’ll easily find us in Main Street, Foxton which is just off the Leicester Line of the historic Grand Union Canal.
Of course, the past 2 years has had its challenges for everyone and like all businesses, we were so excited to welcome back our lovely customers after the various lockdowns, to catch up with old friends again, meet new ones and generally get back to some form of ‘normality’! As many of you will know, we were very busy (complete understatement) while we had to close, but now look forward to a new and prosperous 2022 for everyone.
We know you love our pub as much as we do, but if you haven’t visited us for a while (why not??!), we made a few changes last year – lots of refurbishing (again), new equipment, garden landscaping, new weather proof terrace canopy, and of course….. our brand new Tearoom! You’ll have to read Claire’s recent blogs for all the news, but suffice to say, we are all ‘super excited’ for 2022 !
We are of course fully open, but rest assured with essential safety measures in place (as detailed below) for everyone’s protection. We love welcoming new customers whether you are just visiting Foxton Locks on a day trip or holidaying in the area and of course we love serving our regulars too (well, some of you!). We really missed you all during the lockdowns, and hope – even with the potential emergence of new covid variants, that we don’t have to endure the bad times again.
IF IT’S YOUR FIRST VISIT…..
On a typical day, you’ll see colourful narrowboats leisurely navigating the locks, moored up or making their way up or down the picturesque canal. Once the main method of transporting goods, the canal now attracts tourists, walkers and boating enthusiasts keen to capture a part of history and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the area.
The Black Horse Pub itself has an interesting history and was rebuilt in 1900 on the site of another Inn, but today with many renovations, it stands proud with its stunning gardens as a highly popular social venue for the local community and visitors, providing the very best in freshly prepared home cooked food and an inviting selection of popular ales, wines and spirits to satisfy every taste.
OUR ‘TAKE AWAY’ SERVICE:
All through the lockdown, we offered our ever popular ‘Pub Takeaway food’ to either be collected from the pub, or delivered FREE directly to your address within our newly extended designated areas. The good news is….., due to its popularity, we are not only continuing this service but we’ve EXPANDED it to offer loads of new lines. You can see all the details of food, deliveries, times and areas etc when you view or download our latest ‘Takeaway Menu’.
COVID-19 RISK ASSESSMENT:
The coronavirus pandemic has demanded stringent safety precautions for all our protection and in line with government guidelines, we’ve assessed and implemented safety measures in all areas of the building and outside areas. Please take a few minutes to read our short document here for your reassurance that we are fully committed to your and our staff’s safety and protection, while still delivering the best all round pub and tearoom service that you deserve.
We’d like to invite you to navigate through the pages of this website to familiarise yourself with our business and staff. We recommend you visit our facebook page to get day to day updates as they occur and regularly go to our ‘Upcoming Events’ page where we’ll be publishing activities and entertainment at the pub over the coming months of 2022.
‘The Bar’ is once again the village’s favourite social venue. It’s a great place to meet friends or family for a friendly chat or brazen banter, a game of darts, or just soak up the brilliant atmosphere and fun. We’ve a great selection of beers, ales, wines, spirits and other drinks to suit all tastes. We ask you to be respectful of social distancing, although the option to wear a mask at the bar is your choice.
