January 10th 2021:

Well, 2020 didn’t go quite as planned did it!

Now I could spend the next hour reflecting on what went wrong last year, but what’s the point? The pandemic took us all by surprise – the year was ‘pants’ for so many reasons, but NOW IT’S TIME TO MOVE ON!

The good news is ‘WE’RE STILL HERE”! We are fit and healthy, though a bit battle scarred, but ready to face all the challenges this new year presents to serve all our lovely loyal customers while protecting our staff and our business. We’ve worked too hard to see it destroyed by some foreign virus, and all it’s various strains or any government policies, no matter how much they try to hurt us!

But before I ramble on any more, Daniel and I first want to say our hearts go out to any of you who have suffered  illness or indeed bereavement during this unprecedented time. I hope you have had some comfort from the support of the village and local community which has been quite extraordinary – a time when everyone has pulled together to help those in need which makes us feel so proud to be part of it. We are also so  grateful for the personal support we’ve received to help keep our business afloat.

So what for the future? Well at this stage it’s difficult to say as we are currently in lockdown again and restricted to offering our takeaway services and deliveries. Hopefully, you’ve been following our facebook page and thebestof Market Harborough feature. We have a new van, purchased specifically for this purpose and our message is (whatever the tier, lockdown or other restrictions enforced on us),  if it’s legal – “IF YOU CAN’T COME TO US, WE’LL COME TO YOU”!

We’ll bring your SUNDAY LUNCH/DINNER to you, with all the trimmings.

We’ll bring your basket of FRESH VEGETABLES AND FRUIT to you. Just order by Tuesday mid-day and we’ll deliver on the Wednesday.

On Sundays, we’ll open our popular ‘Pit Stop’ service from 10am for a hot drink and hot food to accompany your morning dog walk etc.

And as soon as we can, we’ll re-open our doors once again and welcome you all back, but in the meantime please use us for takeaway meals – you can collect from the pub or we can deliver. Phone lines are open 4:30pm -8:30pm Wednesdays to Saturdays & Sundays from 10am with deliveries bookings until 5pm.

Don’t forget, we can deliver to your door, so you don’t get cold.  We’ll always be mindful of keeping you and us all safe while on our premises – no exceptions – while delivering the top quality services you deserve.  But we dream (one day in the not too far distant future) of a covid free environment when we can once again all relax and hug each other without the need for social distancing, silly masks and constant hand sanitising.  Do you remember those times? But until then ………..

As you know, The Stables Tea Room had to close last year, but… we have plans to re-open in the spring of 2021 or summer with a slightly different focus. We know how popular our tea room was, and rest assured when we can, we’ll be offering those services again. But one thing the lockdown and listening to you has taught us is the need for a place where local people can meet up for a friendly cuppa, a chat etc – particularly those living on their own or considered more ‘vulnerable’. Maybe we can help. so please watch this space while we think it through in line with developments over the coming weeks.

In the meantime, please stay safe, and look after yourselves. Keep an eye on our facebook page here for regular updates and call us to use our take out and delivery services. We’re always here to help, and thank you again for your continued support.

With love, Claire, Daniel and The Black Horse team xx
